Curiosity killed the cat… or did it? Sinbad the ginger tabby cat travelled a whopping 3,000 miles in 17 days in a shipping container! His miraculous journey began from The Nile Linen Group in Alexandria, Egypt, on to Felixstowe port, then finally Moreton-On-Lugg where the cargo was to be delivered.
We all know how nosey cats are and how they wander to places they shouldn’t. Maybe this cat wanted to start a new life in England and thought hiding in the container, containing Mediterranean linen, was the best way? When the container arrived at its destination, the staff from the linen warehouse could hear meows coming from the shipping container. The RSCPA were called immediately to investigate.
As soon as they opened the container doors, a cute ginger face popped around the door. They were all amazed to see little Sinbad, a little 8 month old kitten! Understandably, he was very tired and hungry. But at the same time, staff were incredibly surprised at how well Sinbad looked, considering he had no food or water for 17 days. The RSPCA took Sinbad to the Laurels Veterinary Surgery in Whitecross, Hereford, where he was fed and watered. Sinbad was put into quarantine, and after a short period of time, was to rehomed. I think this story proves cats really do have 9 lives! |
