What is St. Georges Day? In England we remember St George as Englands patron saint. He was born sometime around the year 280 in what is now Turkey. He was a soldier and rose up through the ranks of the Roman army and one day became the personal guard to the Emperor Diocletian. He was most widely known for a slaying a dragon and saving a princess. The story goes on, a well in the town of Silene was guarded by a beast of a dragon. In order to get water, the people of the town used to offer human sacrifices every day to this dragon. One day when St George was visiting, a princess had been chosen to be sacrificed but St George had slayed the dragon, saved the princess and gave people of Silene freedom to water from the well.
Have a memorable day at St Georges Day in Tamworth Castle, where the grounds are brought to life with lots of fun activities for all ages, including the Knights tournament; a medieval recreation where the noble Knights will have the ultimate contest. Swords will be wielded, archery skills put to the test and helmets getting battered. You must be thinking so where do shipping containers come into this? Well, shipping containers can be used for a number of purposes in such events. |
For storage of equipment, tools, swords, helmets, bows and arrows, the list goes on, a container may be an ideal solution for this. A standard
20ft shipping container has the cubic capacity of 1160 cubic feet, thats enough storage for a 2 bedroom house. But, are you using up all that cubic capacity to ensure your items stored are efficient and neat? If not, shipping
container shelving is the option. Not only will it look good, but it will use up the space that isnt being used, so rather than bundling it up to one side, absolutely maximise the internal space with shelving bays. To narrow it down, with all that internal capacity, shelving can be beneficial in maximising the height and space, this will provide a better storage facility.

Not only can shipping containers be used for storage but also can be converted into a stage for the Knights Tournament or even an Archery Target Club which will put your skills to the test. I have taken the time to do a 3D drawing (not-to-scale) of how I perceive such a project. Here we take a
40ft shipping container and at the delicate hands of our fabrications team, they will remove one side panel and re-enforce with box section steel. Silhouette stage lights could be installed for that epic medieval experience, many more can be added to make the perfect stage but for something basic and for a crowd to be scream there you have it.
So lets get those knights rumbling and see a bunch of arrows miss their targets.
