A chemical storage container is essential for both environmental protection and worker safety. Improper storage can cause cross-contamination, fires, and even fatalities. To prevent such risks, chemical storage containers must be designed and constructed in compliance with regulatory standards, ensuring safe and secure containment of hazardous substances.
Here are our top 3 chemical storage conversions, custom-built in accordance with client guidelines and regulatory standards:
Chemical Store Tunnel Container

Lion converted a 40ft shipping container into a 32ft chemical storage container for a South Wales-based client dealing with petroleum products. The team resized the unit from its original dimensions to fit within the limited space at the final delivery location. As this was going to be used to store chemicals, the team fitted and welded custom shelving. Lion also added a lip to the shelving to prevent any substances from falling off.
Chemical and Fuel Storage

Lion custom-built four 10ft shipping containers into a chemical storage container for the client’s site in Warrington. The shipping containers were turned into chemical storage containers and included a separate space for fuel storage. Since the chemical storage containers were going to be used to store IBCs (intermediate bulk containers), the flooring and bund had to be strong enough to withstand the weight of both the IBCs and the fluids. Lion built the bund in line with COSHH regulations, added steel shelving, and fitted two louvre vents to allow for ventilation inside the unit.
IBC Chemical Storage

A global supplier of liquid chemicals contacted Lion Containers about building a container to store IBCs (intermediate bulk containers). We built a 32ft shipping container with huge doors in the front and side access to offload the IBCs using a forklift. Lion constructed the unit with fireproof Hemsec panels and also manufactured a custom-built distribution board. The floor was bunded and fitted with grated mesh and drain valves.
