Yes its true. The Lion Containers Crew all took a trip down to the beautiful Port of Felixstowe last week. As we arrived into the car park we could see a few stacks of containers, this is when I started feeling more excited hoping I would get the chance to at least get a glimpse of the largest container ship. As we got off the car park there it was, it just looked humongous! I saw countless containers stacked on top of one another and noticed some of the manufactures names. I got to see China Shipping boxes, Yang Ming and Hanjin! |
Working in the container industry and selling containers on a daily basis made me realise that containers are a very popular thing, but when I saw the thousands of containers sitting on the ship that really made my eyes open! I was thrown back by how large and imposing the Chinese-owned
CSCL Globe was.
CSCL Globe was.
I and all of the excited members of staff took loads off pictures of the ship. It was like we were in a container world with nothing but containers surrounding us, and the sea of course! I felt very privileged that I got the opportunity go down to the UKs biggest port and see the largest ship to be operated by one of Chinas shipping lines at a young age. We all bombed it down to the beach to get as close as we could, and even started playing around in that cold freezing water we were that excited!
Just the thought of how much work goes into offloading each and every one of these containers is amazing! It was definitely worth getting up at 3am to see this beauty and have this great experience! Maybe another trip this summer?
