A side opening container is typically available in 20ft and 40ft lengths with the 40ft option often being a high cube container as well. This specialised piece of equipment has standard cargo doors to one 8ft end and full concertina cargo doors to one 20ft or 40ft side panel. As a result of the increased weight presented by the concertina doors, both the roof and the floor of side opening containers are significantly re-enforced which does result in a loss of internal height within the container. Side opening or side loading containers are mainly available as new units and Lion Containers currently have them available nationwide.
Side loading containers were initially used by the military, in most cases, for the transportation of military equipment and weaponry. Their easy access and re-enforced floors make them perfect for this application. The predominant uses that we supply open sided or side loading containers are:
- To store over sized equipment that cannot gain access to the container from standard cargo doors.
- Transportation of heavier items.
- Process Enclosures.
- Generator and Equipment Enclosures.
